You, the Blind Man - you didn't care! I gave you all my heart and mind and you took these gifts - I would have given you my soul's beauty and my spirit's strength But you scorned both me and qualities which were mine to give.
You crushed my gentle woman's heart Then sought by devious fashion to torture and destroy And for this there is no judgment harsh enough but that Which Nature has herself already inflicted upon you.
I would have comforted you And in your pain and utter inner loneliness Helped to reveal to you your own spiritual qualities A potential so powerful as to make me, by comparison, seem weak.
I would have helped you to seek and find Your own inner centre of goodness and self confidence Would have balanced some of your difficulties, as your loving companion I could have served you as your eyes and contact with the world.
Blind man, you stirred my heart In a special fashion which no other man has done And I would have loved you forever, had you chosen to live true To your great and noble nature and not fallen to be a vehicle of destruction.
Why do you persist to enjoy your icy negativeness Why do you not honour the good in yourself and others? Why do you not melt your false and outworn husk of hardness And give your heart and mind to Life itself - and others?
No use to cry how different things could have been Had you chosen to accept and benefit by my love but I have been patient, waiting that your selfish heart would melt In the warmth of my sincere and constant affection - now seen as futile
I will have no further contact as you have caused much grief to Fall upon me and mine. You are cruel, Blind Man! But now I realise no one can "see" for another nor give a gift of vision. And my heart remains heavy with the knowledge of your self- imprisonment.
I can no longer endure and suffer as your victim I am a creature of the Light - Loving earth, trees, sun and stars, people, learning - Just everything of which human life is part.
Long and dedicated has been my pilgrimage. I return to the Light and to Life - Sad that you are not with me. May all that is good and noble, bright and loving and true Be in your happier future -that's my parting thought for you.
